FAQ

Q13. Why does eating and drinking before measurement affect results?
Food and drink may cause temporary changes in weight and impedance. Drinking 1000cc of water will result in a 1kg weight gain. But has this water been absorbed to become part of the body (and thus able to affect impedance), or is it still stored in the stomach? Is undigested food just pure weight?

Temporary weight change will change interpretation of impedance and thus inaccurate results. In addition, it cannot be determined how food affects impedance during the digestion process. Although everyone digests food at a different rate, 2 hours is a general rule of thumb for a certain level of digestion, and thus helping subjects to avoid "measuring immediately after a meal".

Q16. How can I tell if my scale needs to be recalibrated?

The best way to check if a scale needs calibration is to use a known weight to confirm if the scale returns the correct measurement. If the measurement is incorrect, please contact our local service provider for calibration services.

Q17. Why is the level of the device important? How do I check if it is level?

If a device is placed on uneven ground, measurement results may be less accurate. Applicable Charder Medical scales will have a bubble level indicator, making it easy for users to check if the scale is level. On certain devices, the scale will contain a level compensation mechanism instead.
If the surface is uneven, please adjust the feet of the device until the device is level, and make sure the scale is stable before use.

Q18. Printing/transferring measurement results

Some Charder Medical devices can output results using thermal printer and/or transfer to PC. Devices with print/transfer compatibility will be marked accordingly in their information page and user manual.

Q19. Can I use a different adapter with my device?

We strictly recommend using the adapter supplied with the device. If the adapter is broken or damaged, please contact our local service provider to purchase a replacement. Usage of another adapter is not covered under the warranty, and any subsequent damage will not be covered.

Q20. Can the supplied adapter be used in any country?

Plug type and voltage differs by country, and using the inappropriate adapter may result in device damage. Therefore, we recommend contacting your local service provider for more information, and to purchase the proper adapter.

Q21. Can I use Charder Medical accessories with devices by other brands?

All Charder accessories are designed specifically for use with Charder Medical devices only. The use of Charder accessories with devices produced by other brands may result in damage to the accessory and/or device.

Q22. How should I clean my device?

We recommend using alcohol-based wipes to clean our devices. Please avoid using large amounts of water, corrosive liquids, or high pressure washers during cleaning, as this may damage the internal electronics. Always disconnect the device from the mains power supply before cleaning to minimize risk of electric shock.

Q23. If batteries are inserted and adapter is plugged in, what power source will be used?

Once an adapter is plugged in, the device automatically stops using batteries, and switches to power supplied by the adapter.

Q24. What kind of maintenance is necessary?

Charder Medical scales do not require routine maintenance from the user, beyond regular cleaning using alcohol-based wipes for hygiene purposes. However, accuracy should be regularly checked and re-calibrated if necessary. Frequency of inspection is dependent upon the level of use and state of the device. If results are inaccurate, re-calibration is required - please contact your local Charder Medical service provider.
